Spots of White on Gums

A fungus called Candida Albicans, which is actually white spots on the gums, is in the mouth of every person. In a body kept healthy, this fungus is maintained by helpful bacteria. But antibiotics, birth control, and other similar products actually end up killing and weakening the helpful bacteria that gets rid of the fungus, allowing it to grow on the gums.
Another condition that causes white spots on the gums is one called leukoplakia, which can be found on the gums, inside the cheek, on or under the tongue, or even on the roof of the mouth. These spots you find might be tiny, or even the size of a quarter; they are not cancerous but could signify a pre-cancerous condition that is created by frequent irritation. Leukoplakia is often found in people who smoke because there is a constant heat irritation in their mouth from the cigarette or pipe.

If you want to prevent having these white spots form on your gums and have a few hundred dollars stored away that you can spend on professional help, the best choice you can make is to have an in-office treatment session, especially if your teeth and/or gums are very sensitive.
